Exosomes – what are they and more importantly, why is everyone talking about them?

What are they?

Exosomes have started grabbing attention in the field of skincare and dermatology due to their potential role in promoting skin health and rejuvenation.

Research has suggested that when exosomes are derived from stem cells or other cell types they can influence various cellular processes in the skin, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue repair.

What are the benefits?

  1. Anti-aging effects: They may contain growth factors, cytokines, and other signaling molecules that promote collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. By delivering these bioactive molecules to skin cells, exosomes could potentially help in combating signs of aging.
  2. Wound healing: They have been shown to accelerate wound healing by promoting cell migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). This makes them promising for treating skin wounds, cuts, and burns.
  3. Skin rejuvenation: Exosomes derived from stem cells or young cells may have rejuvenating effects on aging skin by stimulating the production of new skin cells. This mproved skin texture, and enhances overall skin appearance.
  4. Skin hydration and barrier function: Exosomes can improve skin hydration and strengthen the skin barrier by delivering lipids and other molecules essential for maintaining skin moisture and integrity.
  5. Treatment of skin disorders:  Exosomes have shown to be potentially effective in treating various skin disorders., such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. By modulating inflammation, immune response, and other cellular processes, exosomes could offer novel therapeutic strategies for these conditions.

When is the best time to start using Exosomes?

We would suggest that starting to use exosomes in your 30s would be the best time as this is when collagen, hyaluronic acid, and exosomes slow down. This is also the time, for many people, when sun damage and genetics start to show on the skin.

Starting to use exosomes in your thirties will help even out your skin tone, help with scars, pores, fine lines or sagging.
