Dr. Natalia Bratu completed her Masters in Sports Science & Exercise at University College Cork. Natalia has also served as the medical staff doctor for the Republic of Ireland’s International women’s team from 2008-2012.

So, as a Sports Medicine Specialist, Dr. Natalia knows what’s on the line when anyone has an injury. You don’t need to be an athlete to obtain an injury that would even stop you from walking for a couple of weeks. It’s all about staying physically healthy. Our goal is to keep you active at the highest level and return you to your desired level of performance as quickly and as safely as possible. These things will take time, and we are here to help make that transition as smooth and pain-free as possible.

As of November 2018, Natalia has further increased her knowledge of Sports Medicine after attending and participating in the World Congress in Sports & Exercise Medicine.

We are located in Dublin City Center and we will do our best to accommodate emergency consultations.

PRP Therapy for Sports Injuries

We have learned that the body has the amazing ability to heal itself.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a treatment that uses components of your own blood to accelerate healing in injured tissues, such as muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. It has become increasingly popular among athletes for recovering from sports injuries because it aims to enhance the body’s natural healing process and may reduce recovery time.

PRP Injections can reduce the need for anti-inflammatories or stronger medications like opioids.

Common Sports Injuries Treated with PRP:

  • Tendon Injuries: Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinitis (jumper’s knee), rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis).
  • Ligament Injuries: ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tears, MCL (medial collateral ligament) sprains, ankle sprains.
  • Joint Injuries: Osteoarthritis (especially in knees, shoulders, hips), labral tears (in the shoulder or hip).
  • Muscle Injuries: Muscle strains or tears.

The side effects of PRP injections are very limited because, since the injections are created from your own blood, your body will not reject or react negatively to them.

As with all treatments here in Refine Clinic, Dr. Bratu will will consider your injury type, age, activity level, and overall health before recommending treatment.
