Microneedling Pre & Post Treatment Advice

Pre-Treatment Care and Advice

During your consultation with Dr. Natalia Bratu, it’s possible that you will be deemed unsuitable for a microneedling facial treatment or microneedling for hair loss. This can be due to one of many reasons, particularly if you have:

Acne or are taking medication for acne.
Blood disorders or are on anticoagulants.
Cancer and are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Frequent skin rashes or cold sores.
Keloidal tendency.
Moles, freckles, skin tags or other growths that change in size or shape or bleed.
Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

However, Dr. Natalia Bratu will be happy to discuss your options as there may be alternatives available.

Post Treatment Care and Advice

At Refine Clinic, we advise clients on several steps to ensure optimal results:

Clean: Use a soothing cleanser or face wash with tepid water to cleanse your face during the 48 hours post-treatment. Gently dry the treated skin, and always ensure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.
Hydrate: Following your treatment, your skin may feel drier than normal, so it’s essential to hydrate.
Stimulate: In the days following your treatment, and as the skin starts to regenerate, collagen stimulating peptides are recommended to continue the stimulation.
Makeup: Avoid makeup application during the 12 hours after your treatment. When you eventually do apply makeup, use a clean makeup brush.
Protect: Immediately after the procedure, apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF30.

To ensure the proper healing environment, observe the following after microneedling care guidelines:

For at least two hours post-treatment, do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare.
Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 24 hours. Do not use a tanning bed.
Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
Avoid exercise or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments are harmful, rife with bacteria and may cause adverse reactions.

Who will be looking after me?

Prices vary depending on the treatment. For example, one face and hand peel costs €350, while a tummy lift costs €800.

Does aesthetic treatment hurt?

Depending on the treatment you opt for, you may feel some slight sensations and minimal discomfort. However, there are numbing agents available should you wish to use one.

Am I suitable for the treatment?

Some people may be unsuitable for aesthetic treatments due to pre-existing medical conditions, lifestyle factors or their current physical condition.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Natalia Bratu will assess whether the treatment is right for you. At Refine Clinic, we never pressure our clients to proceed, and you are welcome to return or take time to consider your options.

How long will the treatment take?

Micro needle treatment is typically completed within 60 minutes.

How long before I see results?

After your microneedling treatment, please be aware of and observe the following:

Immediately after your treatment, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn, and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will subside after 1-2 hours. The skin will normally recover within the same day or 24 hours. You may see slight redness after 24 hours, but only in minimal areas or spots.

We will prescribe post-procedure skincare to help soothe, calm and protect the skin. Continue to follow the steps Dr. Natalia Bratu outlines for three days. Do not resume your skincare until 48 hours post-procedure.

Treatments should be booked 4-6 weeks apart.

4-6 treatments are recommended for optimal results.

How long will the results last?

Depending on your lifestyle, results may last between six and nine months.

I have never had this treatment before and I am apprehensive

This is understandable and no problem at all. Dr. Natalia Bratu will discuss the treatment and answer all your questions. If you decide not to have treatment at any point, that is also not a problem. There may be other treatments for the issues or needs you have, which can be explored.
