What Are Fat Dissolvers

Fat dissolver injections are a non-surgical treatment designed to reduce small, resistant pockets of fat, such as under the chin, stomach, thighs, hips, arms, or knees. In addition, they can be used to contour other areas of the body. The treatment uses Deoxycholic Acid, a naturally occurring bile acid in the body, to break down and eliminate fat cells permanently.

This makes it an excellent alternative to liposuction for patients seeking subtle contouring with minimal downtime.

How Do Fat Dissolver Injections Work?

The Role of Deoxycholic Acid

Deoxycholic Acid is the active ingredient in fat dissolvers such as Aqualyx® & Celluform®. As a result, these treatments are effective in targeting and eliminating stubborn fat cells.

In the human body, it helps break down dietary fat. When injected directly into stubborn fat deposits, it:

  • Destroys fat cell membranes so the fat is released.

  • Allows the body’s lymphatic system to naturally eliminate fat cells.

  • Prevents fat cells in the treated area from regenerating, giving long-lasting results.

Because the fat cells are permanently destroyed, results can be maintained with a healthy lifestyle.

Yes! The result of these injections is extremely natural-looking, and there are no scars or puncture marks left on the skin, apart from small ones where the treatment has been applied. The good news is that these heal quickly.

If you’re prone to bruising, you may wish to use arnica or bromelain. Swelling will occur, this is normal.
