Project Description

Facial Thread Lifting

Facial Thread Lifting uses special Polydioxanone threads to tighten the skin, stimulate natural collagen growth, and give volume to specific areas.

Polydioxanone is commonly referred to as PDO. It is a potent synthetic fiber that is thinner than a human hair.

The procedure itself is non-invasive and non-surgical. It is a safe and effective treatment that offers subtle, natural results for both men and women.

Many people choose a thread lift for facial areas that “sag” or look loose over time. Successfully treated areas include:

  • Jowls and your Jawline
  • Brow Line
  • Under-Eye Area
  • Forehead
  • Cheeks
  • Neck Area

Is Thread lifting safe?

As the threads are manufactured using the same material that is used in sutures, they are a very safe, biodegradable alternative to invasive face-lift surgery.

How does Facial Thread lifting work?

The threads are placed under the skin using thin needles. Once in place, the threads are pulled and the skin is tightened and plumped, by barbs, which embed themselves into the subcutaneous layer of your skin. The threads initiate an inflammatory response, which promotes collagen manufacture in the treated areas. This process also improves blood flow to the skin.

The result is facial skin that looks younger and fresher.

Who will perform the procedure?

Dr Natalia Bratu will perform the procedure. Dr Natalia is fully registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC No. 335160).

How do I know if I’m suitable for this procedure?

Dr Natalia Bratu will have a full consultation with you to assess you for suitability. At this consultation you will have an opportunity to discuss facial areas of concern, the results you expect post-treatment, and your pre-treatment and post-treatment care. A full medical history will be taken which is, of course, completely confidential.

This consultation must be paid at time of booking. The charge is €100 and is redeemable against facial thread lifting treatment.

  • suffer from keloid scarring (irregular fibrous tissue formed at the site of a scar or injury)
  • are epileptic
  • have any blood disorders in particular blood coagulation disorders, or if you take any anti-coagulant medication including over the counter products containing aspirin.

Is Treatment Painful?

No, pain and discomfort are minimal during the procedure. Dr. Natalia will apply an anaesthetic cream to your face and allows it to take effect before the treatment is performed.

A cool ice compress can be applied to the face to bring down inflammation or any swelling for 24-48 hours.

I Have A Fear Of Needles, But I Still Want To Have this Procedure

We often encounter patients who are apprehensive about treatments that involve needles, so please don’t feel embarrassed or uncomfortable about your anxiety. During your consultation, Dr Natalia can prescribe a light medication for you to take the night before treatment and a couple of hours pre-treatment to help your anxiety.

When can I return to work?

This procedure does not affect your ability to work however if you don’t want anyone to know you have had treatment the bruising may bring attention to your treatment. Depending upon your job and your tolerance for some minor bruising and swelling, you may be able to return to work in 2-3 days following the procedure.

Arnica tablets can speed up bruising recovery. These can be found in your local homeopathy or health food store. Some patients who bruise easily start to take them a few days before treatment and have reported that they reduced their bruising.

Post Treatment

After treatment general care would be to adhere to the following advice

  • Sleep on your back
  • Avoid pressure to face when applying creams/make-up
  • Ensure all make-up brushes and applicators are clean to prevent infecting injection site
  • Avoid astringents or toners as you may irritate the injection sites
  • Apply arnica cream to any bruised areas gently
  • Avoid taking aspirin or products containing aspirin as this thins the blood and can prolong bruising (please make Dr Natalia aware if your GP has prescribed you aspirin e.g. Nu-Seals for a medical condition). Paracetamol and ibuprofen are fine to take if you need to take pain medication for any general pain issue you may have.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption as this thins the blood and can prolong bruising

After treatment you must avoid the following treatments for the advised time

  • no facial treatments – 4 weeks
  • no dermal fillers – 6 weeks
  • no laser treatments – 8 months

Advised period of review of your procedure is 12 weeks after treatment.

Threads dissolve after 6-8months, stimulate collagen production and the results will be visible for 2-3 years.
